Overview
Amid rapid growth and the launch of a revamped core SaaS experience, a structured onboarding phase became essential. Designed for the Canadian market, it needed to introduce users to key features based on their role while maintaining a lighthearted brand voice in both English and French Canadian. The agreed format for this phase was a series of carousel slides, shown upon first login or when accessing a new area.

The Challenge
One of the biggest challenges in designing the role-type onboarding carousels was the high level of customization in role types. Except for the generic intro slide, all other slides were triggered based on specific role permissions. The copy had to be flexible enough to apply to any combination of permissions, ensuring clarity and effectiveness regardless of the carousel order.

Onboarding for Exploring New Areas
For the carousels introducing a new area of the app, we followed a structured pattern: the first slide explained the area's purpose, while the following slides outlined available features based on the user’s role.
The Outcome
The revamped LMS launched with success. New and existing users were welcomed into their custom portals with the new onboarding experience. They had a clearer indication of what their roles permitted and what the newly discovered areas had to offer.
